Getting our hands dirty for clean energy.

How one curious engineer's backyard experiments grew into a mission to put the magic of solar energy directly into the hands of children everywhere.

Meet the Founder

Joaquin Thomas, Founder.

GoSolar! Kidz began with a simple discovery: solar energy isn't just for rooftops, big buildings, or large utility projects. Solar energy can also be personal, practical, hands-on, and exciting — especially for children.

Our founder, Joaquin Thomas, first became fascinated with solar energy in 2010 as a young engineer and hands-on DIY tinkerer. At the time, solar products were hard for everyday people to understand or use — there were very few simple guides, store employees often didn't know how the products worked, and most small kits weren't well integrated or practical.

The Experiments

So he started tinkering.

Joaquin began experimenting on his own. He learned how to connect solar panels, batteries, motors, and small devices, and explored how solar energy could power useful everyday things — from tools in a shed, to lights in a garden, to cameras, chargers, and small electronics used outdoors.

Through this process, he discovered something powerful: solar energy becomes magical when people can see it working right in front of them. That magic became even clearer when he began teaching kids.

The Moment

"When children saw a solar panel power a fan in the middle of a field with no outlet, their faces lit up."

They were amazed that sunlight could be turned into real electricity. For them, solar wasn't just a technical topic — it was exciting, empowering, and full of possibility. That moment became the heart of GoSolar! Kidz.

Today

They don't just talk about clean energy — they build with it.

GoSolar! Kidz exists to help children discover the power and magic of the sun through hands-on learning — making solar fun, practical, and accessible by helping kids build real projects they can understand, use, and be proud of.

Practical Solar Skills

Kids learn how panels work, how sunlight direction affects output, where solar works best, and how to use it in real life.

Projects That Last

Our kits aren't one-use cardboard crafts — they're practical, solar-powered builds kids keep enjoying after class.

Real, Memorable Builds

From solar chargers to cars, robots, machines, and drones, every activity makes solar energy real and unforgettable.

The sun can power more than a project — it can power their imagination.

A child sees sunlight turn into electricity. They build something with their own hands. And everything changes. That's the GoSolar! Kidz story — come be part of it.
